**What if leadership isn't about leading at all- but building the capacity for growth?**
I’ve just completed ‘Cornerstone,’ a powerful leadership training that challenged me to examine my leadership and communication style. One idea stood out profoundly:
Peter Senge’s redefinition of leadership as “the capacity of a community or group to shape its future.” This struck me because it shifts the focus from individual authority to collective potential
This perspective was beautifully reinforced by Roselinde Torres's framework of three essential questions for 21st-century leaders:
- What change am I anticipating?
- What is the measure of diversity in my network?
- Am I courageous enough to leave the past behind?
For me, these questions are a sequence of steps:
1️⃣ Anticipate trends and think critically about the future.
2️⃣ Connect seemingly abstract ideas together - innovate - through a diverse and collaborative network.
3️⃣ Get out of my comfort zone - because growth only happens when boundaries are pushed.
The key insight? Leadership requires intentional capacity-building. As I integrate these lessons into my practice, I'm reminded that shaping the future requires both the vision to see it and the capacity to move toward it.
